The Dutch Foodie helping out at Food Events

Marianne conjured up a veritable Christmas feast, a delight for both the eyes and the palate. Canapes were smoked salmon with an avocado crème fraiche and caviar, served on Chive “Poffertjes” (savoury Dutch mini pancakes), and foie gras with a fig marmalade on garlic croutons. All served with a complimentary glass of prosecco! We kept going back for more until the entire tray was empty!

The starter looked like a true work of art: a trio of salmon (smoked, beetroot and gin cured and prime kinglas salmon) served with avocado mousse, an apple and cucumber dressing and microleaves .Wow! Melt in the mouth!

Trio of salmonThe main course was a mouth-watering game pie of venison, pigeon, pheasant and partridge with port and wild mushrooms. Every bite of that pie with its deep, rich gravy was sheer heaven. Sides were goose fat roast potatoes, delicious herb roast green beans, chantennay carrots and roast sprouts with bacon, grapes and balsamic vinegar. I’m not a sprout lover,  but this combo made me have a change of heart. I’ll have to cook sprouts  the “Dutch Foodie way” now!

Although we were pretty full after all this, we managed to fit in plentiful cups of tea poured from a delightful art nouveau teapot, served with a mini mince pie selection and unctuously thick Champagne and brandy cream. A wonderful way to finish the meal.

Marianne was a very attentive and thoughtful host. Thanks again a truly wonderful Christmas celebration. Mum hasn’t stopped talking about it!“   Cath P, London

Gourmetten at The dutch Foodie

“We were delighted to spend our New Year’s Eve at The Chef’s Table @ The Dutch Foodie. Having been warmly welcomed with complimentary bubbles, we settled down to a fantastic  evening of “gourmetten”.  What’s that, you ask?  Well so did we!  Gourmetten is a Dutch tradition, comprising of a stone-grill and raclette at the table,  on which you cook a variety of meats, fish, poultry, vegetables and cheese – whatever you fancy.

Marianne had invested a lot of time preparing the meal, attending to every detail to make it perfect for us. We had an amazing selection of prime steak, chicken, duck, prawns, sea bream and even lamb and venison.  To accompany this feast, we also had mixed peppers, mushrooms, caramelised onions, parmentier potatoes, cheeses and delicious home-made flavoured butters, sauces, salads and breads.  We could eat what we liked, and as much or as little as we liked befitting our  own personal tastes and appetites.

This is one of Marianne’s great skills, ensuring that each of her guests is happy and satisfied. She goes to a lot of effort to ensure the meal is truly memorable.  Having been guests of The Dutch Foodie before, we admire that Marianne always gives a lot of thought to the presentation of her cooking, which always looks amazing, and she can suggest the type of meal that is appropriate to any occasion. What better way to share the end of one year and the start of another with friends than a leisurely interactive “gourmetten feast” that gets everyone exploring and talking about the delicious fare and then sharing the cooking together.

Marianne, we had a wonderful evening and you were the perfect host.  We shall definitely be coming back for more! ” Richard C, Bristol
